Ingredients Needed
This is a quick overview of the ingredients you’ll need for this Candy Cane Heart Recipe. Specific measurements and full recipe instructions are in the printable recipe card below.
- Miniature Candy Canes
- White Baking Chips – you can substitute candy melts or almond bark, or other flavors of chocolate chips
- Coconut Oil – This is optional but will make the melted chips a bit smoother
- Holiday Sprinkles – They add such a nice color to the hearts, you can use any festive sprinkles
How to make Candy Cane Hearts
Step 1: Form the Hearts. Place two mini candy canes together on a parchment paper lined baking sheet to look like a heart.
Step 2: Melt the Chocolate. Melt the white chocolate and coconut oil in a medium bowl in 20 second increments until you can stir it smooth.
Step 3: Add the Chocolate to the Hearts. Transfer the white chocolate into a ziplock bag and snip the corner off. Pipe the white chocolate into the middle of the candy canes. Gently move the candy canes to smooth out the chocolate if needed. Top each with a few sprinkles. Let the candies cool at room temperature until the white chocolate is set.
Tips and Tricks
- Work Quickly – The white chocolate will cool quickly, especially if your house is cooler (like it might be in the winter), pipe it quickly into the heart candy canes, and add the sprinkles on top before they harden.
- Alternate Fillings – Instead of white chocolate, try dark chocolate, or milk chocolate instead.
Storage Instructions
The candy cane hearts can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Do not transfer them to the fridge or the candy canes will get soft.
These Candy Cane Hearts are such a sweet, festive treat for the holidays. They are adorable, and the creamy white chocolate and peppermint flavor makes these a favorite for all ages.
