Ingredients Needed
This is a quick overview of the ingredients you’ll need for this White Chocolate Popcorn Recipe. Specific measurements and full recipe instructions are in the printable recipe card below.
- Popcorn – Use your favorite microwave popcorn, or pop your own. You need about 1 cup of unpopped popcorn kernels to make the same amount of popcorn.
- Salt – Just a dash if you’re popping your own popcorn to give it that salty flavor. If you’re using already salted popcorn, you can skip this.
- White Chocolate – You can use almond bark, White Vanilla Melting Wafers, or White Baking Chips
- Coconut Oil – or vegetable oil to smooth out the white chocolate
How to make White Chocolate Covered Popcorn
Step 1: Pop the Popcorn. Pop your popcorn using the stove top, air popper, or microwave. Pour the popcorn over a wire rack on a cookie sheet to remove unpopped kernels, and transfer the popped popcorn to a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the salt over the top of the popcorn.
Step 2: Melt the White Chocolate. Add the white chocolate to a microwave safe bowl, and microwave in 30-second increments, stirring as much as you can after each. Stir until smooth.
Step 3: Coat the Popcorn. Pour the melted white chocolate over the popped popcorn. Gently stir the popcorn with a rubber spatula, until the popcorn is coated evenly with the white chocolate.
Step 4. Spread out the Popcorn. Pour the popcorn out onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Let the popcorn sit at room temperature until the white chocolate hardens, about 30 minutes. Break into pieces and enjoy!
Tips and Tricks
- Microwave Slowly – Melt the white chocolate slowly in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring as much as you can after each. You want to prevent overheating the white chocolate, so don’t microwave it more than needed.
- Additional Mix-ins – Add other mix ins into the bowl of popcorn before adding the white chocolate, or after spreading the mixture out on the baking pan. Some other favorites are small pretzels, mini marshmallows, m&ms, peanuts, or sprinkles.
Storage Instructions
Store the cooled and set white chocolate popcorn in an airtight container, a ziplock bag works great, at room temperature for up to 5 days. You want to keep it in a cool place in your house, to keep the white chocolate from melting from sunlight, or heat.

White Chocolate Popcorn
Ingredients
- 10 cups popped popcorn
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 10 oz white chocolate chips or candy melts
- 1 tsp coconut oil
Instructions
- Add the popcorn to a very large bowl and sprinkle salt over the top. Set it aside. 10 cups popped popcorn, 1/4 tsp salt
- Add the white chocolate and coconut oil to a small microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring after each until you can stir it smooth. 10 oz white chocolate chips or candy melts, 1 tsp coconut oil
- Pour the white chocolate over the top of the popcorn. Stir with a spatula until the popcorn is evenly coated.
- Spread the popcorn onto a cookie sheet lined, with parchment paper.
- Let the popcorn set at room temperature until hardened. Break into pieces and enjoy.
